About Us
Welcome to Backyard Edit
Backyard Edit is where good ideas for outdoor spaces live.
Whether you have a sprawling backyard, a modest patio, or a tiny balcony that barely fits two chairs, this site is built to help you turn whatever outdoor space you have into something you actually want to spend time in.
Why this site exists
Most backyard content online falls into two camps: Pinterest-perfect inspiration photos with no practical advice, or endless product round-ups that feel like ads dressed up as articles.
Backyard Edit sits in the middle.
Every post here is built around one simple question: Would I actually use this in my own backyard? If the answer is no, it doesn’t make the cut. The ideas, products, and projects you’ll find here are ones that hold up when you stop scrolling and start building.
What you’ll find here
Our content is organized around four main areas, all focused on real outdoor living:
- Backyard Ideas — Makeovers, small-space solutions, and design inspiration for every yard size and budget.
- Garden & Plants — Raised beds, container gardens, and planting guides for beginners and seasoned gardeners.
- Outdoor Living — Patios, decks, furniture, fire pits, and balcony ideas that turn outdoor space into an actual room.
- Backyard Entertaining — Party setups, outdoor dining, movie nights, and the small touches that make gatherings feel effortless.
Who writes Backyard Edit
Backyard Edit is edited by @BackyardEdit, someone who spent years scrolling through outdoor inspiration pins without finding much that was actually useful. This site is the answer to that problem: a curated library of backyard ideas that are practical, affordable when they need to be, and beautiful when they should be.
The name “Backyard Edit” is intentional. This is an edited view of the outdoor space world — not everything gets included, only the ideas worth your time.
Our approach
- Curated, not cluttered. We’d rather publish one great post than ten mediocre ones.
- Real budgets, real photos where possible. We show what things actually cost and what they actually look like.
- No gatekeeping. Good outdoor living shouldn’t require a $50,000 renovation. Most of what we cover works for real budgets.
- Honest recommendations. When we link to products, we link to ones we’d buy ourselves.
